Investigate alleged assassination attempt on Fr Mbaka now - Governor Umahi tells

- Governor David Umahi of Enugu state, has urged the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to investigate the alleged assassination attempt on Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka

- The controversial priest was reported to have escaped assassination attempt on Sunday, December 9 - Umahi, however, warned politicians who are desperate about 2019 general elections to play by the rules Governor of Ebonyi state and chairman of southeast governors' forum, David Umahi, has called on security agencies to investigate and unravel the circumstances surrounding the alleged assassination attempt on the controversial Catholic priest, Fr. Ejike Mbaka. Legit.ng regional reporter in Enugu, Ikpechukwu Chinedu, reports that Umahi who made this known to journalists through a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Emmanuel Uzor, described the alleged attack on the priest as highest provocation of man against God and called for full scale investigation to unravel those behind the attempted assassination. Umahi also called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, to dispatch a crack team to investigate the alleged attack. He said the attempted assassination of the Catholic priest shows how low men have descended on their inordinate quest for power to silence the truth and thanked God for saving the life of Fr. Mbaka. Governor Umahi further warned politicians who are so desperate about 2019 general elections to play by the rules while insisting that nobody’s political ambition is worth the blood of any citizen, adding that they should know that it is dangerous to touch God’s anointed or to do harm to His prophet. Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that some gunmen reportedly fired at the vehicle of Catholic priest, Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka at the Enugu state capital. It was reported that representatives of the Adoration Ministry in a statement claimed that the religion leader escaped unhurt from the attack. They said this was not the first time Mbaka has come under attack. “It is with rude shock and utter surprise that we received the report of the attempted assassination plot of the Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria last made Thursday evening by some unknown gunmen who fired gun shots at him on his way along Emene road Enugu.
